Description
A creamy, velvety homemade copycat Campbell soup recipe inspired by the classic condensed-style tomato soup. Made with simple pantry ingredients, this comforting bowl delivers smooth texture, balanced sweetness, and rich tomato flavor — without preservatives or additives.
Ingredients

Simple pantry ingredients used to create a creamy Campbell-style soup. 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1–2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup milk, cream, or dairy-free alternative
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions

Simmering the tomato soup to develop a smooth, condensed-style texture. Melt the butter in a medium pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and broth. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer 15 minutes to blend flavors and soften acidity.
- Blend the soup using an immersion blender (or carefully in a regular blender) until smooth and velvety.
- Return to the pot, stir in milk or cream, and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and extra sugar if needed.
- Warm through for 2–3 more minutes and serve hot.
Notes
For a thicker texture, simmer longer or add an extra spoonful of tomato paste. Add basil or thyme for a brighter, herbal flavor. Use coconut milk for a dairy-free creamy version. Pair with grilled cheese for the classic comfort-food combo.
