  • Author: Janet
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 23 glasses 1x

Description

A traditional Indonesian wellness tonic made from fresh turmeric, ginger, and tamarind or lemon — perfect for digestion, inflammation, and daily vitality.

Ingredients

Scale
    • Jamu juice ingredients laid out: turmeric, ginger, citrus, honey, pepper.
      Simple ingredients — ancient benefits.

      Traditional Version

    • 120 g fresh turmeric root, sliced
    • 4060 g fresh ginger root, sliced
    • 3 cups water
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • 1 tbsp tamarind paste (or fresh lemon juice)
    • 12 tbsp honey or coconut sugar

  • Enhanced Absorption Version
  • 120 g turmeric
  • 40 g ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or olive oil (critical for curcumin absorption)
  • 1 tbsp honey or coconut sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Jamu juice preparation with blending, heating and straining.
Make Jamu the right way — with absorption in mind.

Blend turmeric and ginger with water until thick and bright orange.

  2. Simmer gently (5–10 min) — do not boil — to soften ginger and activate aromatic compounds.
  3. Strain using cheesecloth or a fine strainer to remove fibers.
  4. Off heat, stir in tamarind/lemon, honey, and black pepper.
  5. Optional: Add coconut oil or olive oil to boost curcumin bioavailability.
  6. Pour into glass bottles. Refrigerate 3–4 days.

Notes

Always add pepper + fat → without them, curcumin isn’t absorbed. Use fresh turmeric, not powder. Avoid drinking late at night (ginger stimulates digestion).
