  • Author: Janet
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Zabaglione coffee is a creamy Italian-inspired drink made with hot coffee and a light egg-based cream. Smooth, comforting, and perfect as a dessert-style coffee at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup hot brewed coffee or 12 shots espresso

Instructions

  1. Add the egg yolk and sugar to a heatproof bowl.
  2. Place the bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water.
  3. Whisk continuously for 3–5 minutes, until the mixture becomes pale, thick, and airy.
  4. Brew the coffee or espresso.
  5. Pour the hot coffee into a cup and spoon the warm zabaglione cream on top.
  6. Stir gently or let the cream melt naturally before drinking.

Notes

Use gentle heat and constant whisking to avoid scrambling the egg. Adjust sugar to taste depending on coffee strength. Best enjoyed immediately for optimal texture.
